A video posted online by a witness shows the officer firing at least nine gunshots.
WFAA reporter Jason Whitely tweeted that the officer was shooting at a man who was throwing large rocks at a woman’s auto.
Bryan Armstrong spoke to CNN about what he witnessed, stating that “there were about 10-15 people, and people were coming out the door, not knowing what was going on…”
Video images of the woman’s auto showed broken windows and numerous dents.
One person has been taken to Parkland Hospital.
According to Fox 4, multiple shots were fired at Dallas Love Field Airport.
The airport remained open throughout the incident, though it did prompt security screening delays, Blankenbaker said. The man who was shot was the father, the spokesman said. The suspect was throwing large rocks at the auto of a woman believed to be the mother of his children, Blankenbaker.
Transportation Security Administration security lines were closed after the shooting and police said all people in the airport would have to be re-screened. The man then reportedly went at the officer with a rock.
Southwest Airlines, the dominant airline at Dallas Love Field, released a statement saying it was working with air traffic controllers nationwide to manage inbound flights.
According to tracking service flightaware.com, at least eight flights operated by Southwest and one by Virgin America were diverted to other airports.
TSA officials urged travelers to stay away from the baggage claim area, Fox 4 added.
Flights into and out of Love Field have not been affected.
Violent incidents have taken place at both of North Texas’ major airports in the last two days.
