Max von Sydow Joins ‘Game of Thrones’ as Three-Eyed Raven

The Raven is an important character in Bran’s storyline, a plot that viewers will be returning to when season 6 starts later next year.

Max von Sydow is one of Hollywood’s most experienced and talented veteran actors, boasting a fantastic career that includes The Exorcist, Minority Report, Shutter Island and even the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Von Sydow will take over the role of The Three-Eyed Raven, the enigmatic mentor of Bran Stark who was briefly played by in the fourth season by Struan Rodger.

Both McShane (whose character hasn’t been revealed) and Sydow are not expected to have a lot of screen time.

A new actor has joined the cast of the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones for season 6. But when the crippled Stark kid reached the cave under the Heart Tree in the season 4 finale, he finally met the three-eyed raven in human form.

Game of Thrones Season 6 is now filming, with a sixth season premiere likely to occur in April 2016. Entertainment Weekly noted that von Sydow is already on set.
