Pakistan were clear favorites to win the series and they did not disappoint as they got off to a truly spectacular start by outshining the Lankan lions in all departments and won the first T20 in comprehensive fashion.

Pakistan’s team members celebrate their victory over Sri Lanka during the second Twenty20 cricket match between them in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Saturday, August 1, 2015.

Sri Lanka could hardly achieve the figure of 146 at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs in response to reasonable target set by Pakistan. Shehan Jayasuriya replaces Khuruwan Vithanage in his debut.

Afridi is one of five players who did not feature for Pakistan in either the Test or one-day matches. Sohail Tanvir was then run out in the same over going for a second run, leaving Pakistan needing six off the last over. Sri Lanka would look to end this trophy less outings with a win and a shared trophy under their belt.

Sri Lanka, though, looked a bit shaky in the beginning but Siriwardana and Mathews lit up the crowd in the middle, hitting some exquisite boundaries.

Pakistan’s top order caved in as Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal were run out and senior batsman Shoaib Malik was stumped.

Young Jayasuriya lived up to the reputation associated with his name and scored 40 off 32 balls while experienced Kapugedera remained not out on 48 off just 25 balls with two fours and 4 huge sixes.

Just like Pakistan, the Sri Lankans are also trying to assemble a good squad for the World T20 and of that objective, five new faces have been brought into the side. He maintained that Sarfraz Ahmad is vice captain of the team however he is would not be playing the match.
