U.S. singer Christina Grimmie shot dead following concert

The Orlando Police Department also confirmed on its official Twitter page that Ms. Grimmie had died.

The man – who was carrying two handguns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife – didn’t appear to know her personally and the motive for the killing is still unknown, according to Orlando Police Chief John Mina. The show ended at around 10 p.m., and Grimmie and members of the band lingered to sign autographs and sell merchandise, according to an Orlando police news release.

The police officer described Grimmie’s brother as a hero for helping prevent anyone else from getting hurt.

The Voice coach and singer, Adam Levine, who was her coach during the 2014 season, published a photo of him and Grimmie in which he wrote that he is “sad, shocked and confused” for the unfair event. She began amassing a following on YouTube as a teenager, and several of her videos on YouTube have garnered millions of views. In an Instagram posted the day of her concert, Grimmie is seen happily singing lyrics to a Tori Kelly song, adding the caption, “The sun is outtt n I’m feelin okay”. “Keeping @TheRealGrimmie family in my heart and mind”. #PrayforChristina started trending on Twitter as friends, fans and other singers hoped for the singer to pull through.

Reports told that the Christina Grimmier’s shooter fired off five rounds of which two bullets struck the singer in the head. “Our hearts go out to the friends, fans and family of @TheRealGrimmie”.

“While the details of this shooting are still being investigated, one thing we already know is that there is so much more Florida policymakers can do to prevent gun violence and keep guns out of risky hands”, said Dan Gross, the president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Blake, a mentor on “The Voice USA” where Christina was a former contestant, tweeted: “I’m stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl. I honestly don’t know what I’ll do without her”, he wrote in the post.
