Mum jailed after ‘kidnapping girl to avoid vaccination’
A 3-year-old girl who’s been missing for more than a year has been found safe near Palatka thanks to a TV show, authorities said Monday.

Megan Elizabeth Everett, 23, was taken into custody without incident Monday in Palatka, Florida. “She didn’t want Lilly to learn about black history”, he said, “She just wanted her to learn about the Confederacy”.
But Baumann says vaccination wasn’t the only issue between them: “She wanted to home-school my daughter”, he says. “The Washington Post reports, “[After] the show aired Sunday, a viewer recognized Everett and Lilly as tenants of a rental property in Palatka…The woman notified CNN, which then contacted the FBI”.
Everett is being held by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and is expected to be returned to Broward County. Now, you might ask, “Why the hell would a mother kidnap her own daughter?”
On May 19, 2014, the Sunrise Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Everett, and she also was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution less than a month later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported.
“Dear C, If I let them take her and vaccinate her and brainwash her, I wouldn’t be doing what’s right”.
Even with Everett’s family on his side, the court did not grant Baumann full custody. I can not let a judge tell me how my daughter should be raised. “She moved, ‘ and he slammed the door in my face”, Baumann recalled to CNN’s “The Hunt With John Walsh”.
Deputies surrounded the home and saw the mother and daughter inside.
As Pam told “The Hunt”, “It was going to be her way or no way”.
But only six weeks into this new arrangement, Everett and Lilly were gone.
“I’ll only feel completely whole when I have my granddaughter back in my arms”, Pam Everett said. “She (Megan) is still my daughter”.
Everett consistently said she thought her granddaughter would be better off with her father, Baumann.
“I don’t see her playing with toys in any picture”. How am I supposed to find her?

He hopes to have her back to his home in Davie by Monday night or Tuesday.
