The actor was upset April Jace wanted a divorce and was obsessed with the belief that she was seeing someone else, Deputy District Attorney Tannaz Mokayef told jurors in her opening statement at trial.
“You like to run, why don’t you run to heaven”, Jace said before shooting his running enthusiast wife in the legs, the boy said.
April Jace’s mother told the judge that she “cried for hours after her death” and still cries during numerous activities, including worship at church, holidays, her birthday and May 19th – the anniversary of her daughter’s death.
April’s mother Kay Henry shook her head in disgust and stormed off the courtroom, saying she didn’t want to listen to “this sh**”.
‘I don’t know how you can shoot somebody three times and call it an accident, ‘ she said. The couple’s sons, ages 8 and 5 at the time, watched the killing in the family’s South Los Angeles home, prosecutors said. “There was no premeditated anything”, he said. He also turned to the family and said he was sorry.
When police arrived, they found Jace’s wife, April, dead from gunshot wounds.
On Friday, The Shield alum was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for murdering his wife, April. “I was just angry”, Jace told investigators.
‘Who is going to argue that this was not an intent to kill?’ Mokayef said.
‘And he’s right, ‘ she added.
Jace’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment after the sentencing hearing. April was a financial aid adviser at Biola University.
