The New Orleans Pelicans released a statement on Saturday afternoon confirming the death of their 23-year-old player.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with Bryce’s family during this hard time.’ .

An apartment resident was asleep when Dejean-Jones kicked in the door around 3:20 a.m., according to Dallas police.

Dejean-Jones ran out of the apartment and “collapsed in the breezeway”, police said.

The couple reportedly had an argument and did not return to the apartment together. An email notification was sent to the residents of the apartment complex about the incident without naming Dejean-Jones on Saturday.

Taking full advantage of this opportunity, Dejean-Jones would perform admirably for the 14 games he appeared in the National Basketball Association, earning him a three-year contract with New Orleans in February despite undergoing season-ending wrist surgery.

Pelicans players and coaches mourn Dejean-Jones. He was a guard for the NBA’s Pelicans, where he played 14 games this season. He signed a three-year contract with the Pelicans in February.

A wrist injury ended Bryce Dejean-Jones’ rookie season early with the New Orleans Pelicans. The noise woke up the resident in his bedroom, they said, and Dejean-Jones failed to respond when the man called out. NBA.com said a big consideration in the probe is that it s legal in Texas to make use of a deadly weapon if there is a threat from intruders. “Cool some air off”, Dejean-Jones’ agent, Scott Nichols, said, according to CBS DFW.

“I just lost my best friend/cousin last night enjoy life because you never know if tomorrow is guaranteed”, Shabazz Muhammad of the Minnesota Timberwolves wrote on Twitter.
