Before the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference in Washington, Trump promised to “uphold the sanctity and dignity of life” and to “restore respect for people of faith”.
Trump, who held private meetings on Wednesday and Thursday, did make a few impromptu remarks in responding to protesters who interrupted his Friday speech on two occasions. “We have to take care of our neighbors, because right now our neighbors are not being taken care of”.
In the aftermath of guidance from the Obama administration prohibiting schools from discriminating against transgender students, Trump said, “We will give parents control over their schools”.
“Hillary Clinton or as I call her “Crooked Hillary Clinton” refuses to even say the words radical Islam”, he said.
That demonstration, however, erupted during one part of Trump’s remarks that you might think would be controversial in a churchy environment: one of multiple attacks on Hillary Clinton for favoring a hospitable attitude towards Syrian refugees.
Those concerns boiled over earlier this week in the aftermath of Trump’s attacks on Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing a fraud lawsuit against Trump University.
But she returned to the campaign trail briefly after Sen. Trump is a nominee who is appealing to bigotry.
The conference is considered an opportunity to appeal to evangelical voters.
Trump said he values religious freedom, despite his calls for a ban on Muslims entering the United States, and said freedom means “no one should be judged just by the color of their skin”, but made no mention of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. “We have to take care of the people that are here”. “I was at centre stage at every debate”, said Trump, while Bush was ‘falling off the ends” of the stage.
Trump was speaking to members of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “The only difference between us as Americans standing here at this luxury hotel and them being pushed out of their homes by violence is circumstance, and that could have been you, so we have to fight for them”. All conference-goers interviewed by VOA said they planned to vote for Trump, and many insisted they’d do so enthusiastically.
In an interview published this week, Trump told TIME magazine that he doesn’t need to disclose specifics on his policies. Despite some Republicans expressing a sense of buyer’s remorse about Trump, conservative Christians seem to be sticking with him.
“Of course it does”, she said.

The protesters may have known that Christians have for eons felt a responsibility to welcome refugees however unpopular or inconvenient they might be. They are the ground troops Donald Trump needs badly to knock on doors and mobilize voters…
