Attendees at the inaugural Golden Valley Pride Festival honored the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting Sunday. Today, at 4 p.m. Boston Pride will hold a moment of silence at the Back Bay Block Party on St. James Avenue and at the Jamaica Plain Block Party on Perkins Street in memory of the victims.

“We are hearing absolutely devastating news reports from Orlando this morning”, she said.

Five block parties are scheduled throughout the city as the finale to Saturday’s 46th annual Boston Pride parade celebrating Boston’s gay community.

The suspect reportedly told police he was in town for the pride event in West Hollywood this weekend. “That’s what they want”. “We have every confidence in the security we are able to provide at our events, in large part because of our cooperative partnership with local and federal law enforcement agencies in the Washington, D.C. area, and the strong measures that are already in place for the city”.

One source in West Hollywood said there was discussion of calling off the parade but that officials made a decision to go forward, with heavy security including undercover officers in the crowd.
