Two pitches after Jimenez’s headhunter, Donaldson stroked an opposite-field double to right that scored Carrera, and the march was on.

Russell Martin hit a three-run homer, Kevin Pillar had a homer and two RBIs, Devon Travis had two RBIs and the Toronto Blue Jays held on to defeat the Baltimore Orioles 10-9 on Sunday.

“He knows it’s not good enough”, Showalter said. “Like even today, when I was throwing in the bullpen, I was feeling really good and I came in the game and everything went the other way”.

Encarnacion hit an opposite field shot off Brad Brach (5-1) to begin the 10th and end an 0-for-19 slump.

“I felt like I made good pitches out there, just one bad inning really”.

At this point previous year the Jays had already scored 10 or more a dozen times, but while it has taken a little longer for their once-fearsome offence to arrive, the Jays are starting to look like their old slugging selves.

Three games under is by far the best worst team in a division.

“I went golfing with Josh Rye (APSU teammate) and had just finished on the 18th hole when I found out”.

It was the fifth walkoff homer of Encarnacion’s career.

The Blue Jays and Orioles combined for almost a kilometre of home runs-2,912 feet or 888 metres, to be exact-as they took turns knocking the snot out of each other’s pitching before eventually arriving at a 10-9 conclusion in favour of the Blue Jays. Encarnacion has 15 homers on the season, four more than Saunders. It’s the third time they’ve reached the mark.

Drew Storen (1-2) pitched one inning for the win.

“It was just one of those days”, Sanchez said.

“His stuff’s not very crisp and he can’t command a baseball right now”, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

REDS 2, A’s 1 (at Cincinnati) – Jay Bruce hit a two-run homer off Daniel Mengden, who made his major league debut, and Cincinnati sent the A’s to their seventh straight loss. Reliever T.J. McFarland (1-2) was shelled for five earned runs over two innings of work.

The Rays broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, getting to Keuchel after four dominant innings.

“I’ve known Pedi from playing with him”, Grilli said.

Encarnacion’s homer, his 13th, gave the Blue Jays a 3-5 record in extra innings.

Michael Saunders followed Encarnacion’s second homer of the game with his 11th homer of the season.

Joseph brings a six-game hitting streak into Saturday, a period that includes five two-hit games. He has 17 home runs in 44 career games at Rogers Centre and 35 homers against the Blue Jays since 2008, more than any other opponent.

Goins’ RBI-triple in the second inning gave Toronto the lead on Wright and the O’s. As pitchers learn how to attack Joseph, he’ll have to get better about working the count and avoiding Ks. “There’s a reason he’s batting.240, I think we give him too much credit”.

Happ (7-3) allowed four earned runs and nine hits. I make a pitch, it’s a swinging bunt.

When Davis mishandled Ezequiel Carrera’s grounder in the ninth, the ball caromed straight to Brach, who tossed it back to Davis in time for the rare 3-1-3 putout. Bautista left Thursday’s game after six innings with tightness in his thigh. Manager John Gibbons said he hopes Bautista will return Saturday. SS Troy Tulowitzki (strained right quadriceps) suffered a setback while running the bases in an extended spring training game Friday.

Happ allowed a season-high three home runs and has given up six in his past four outings, matching the number he allowed in his first nine starts. All three are now among the top 10 homerun hitters in the league.Though Davis is considered the best power hitter of the trio, surprisingly, he has the fewest home runs of the three.

Jimenez now has two starts of two innings or shorter in his last four outings and has gone beyond five innings just once in his last seven starts.
