Team USA executive director Jerry Colangelo said “I expect” LeBron James to be in Las Vegas next week for meetings and workouts for 2016 American Olympic basketball hopefuls, basing his belief off of information from “another player, it doesn’t matter which one”.

Colangelo was asked if he expects LeBron to be on the USA team for the Olympics to which he responded by saying it’s not his call but if he wants to play he will play.

I don’t think anyone should, under no circumstance, hold LeBron to playing for Team USA in 2016.

Dwight Howard, All-Star Center from the Houston Rockets was reportedly keen on joining the team and will even attend the minicamp that is “required” for all players who want a shot. “An indicator will come next week when we see who shows up”.

But by showing up in Las Vegas for a day, LeBron keeps himself in the mix and in Colangelo’s good graces.

James has been to the National Basketball Association Finals in five consecutive seasons therefore he has played more games than just about everyone in the world over that span including the 2012 Olympics. However, he is not expected to have fully recovered from his shoulder injury by then. “The goal of having this minicamp is to celebrate the last 10 years of Team USA basketball and begin to find out who’s committed for next summer”. “CP3” was a member of the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London gold medal teams. Howard and Paul have already confirmed their attendance along with other stars like Carmelo Anthony, Paul’s teammate Blake Griffin as well as Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
