Ohio State gets 5-star QB recruit
With two five-star recruits, 11 four-star recruits, and eight in the nation’s top 100, the Buckeyes now boast the top 2017 recruiting class.

Martell visited Ohio State in March while he was committed to Texas A&M. Four-star wide receiver Mannie Netherly, who had been committed to the Aggies at the time, then decommitted as a result of the outburst and several other recruits who had been offered by the school announced they were dropping all consideration for them, too.
Martell’s commitment has further ramifications for A&M. He is the 14th commit in OSU’s ’17 class.
Apparently, Martell liked what he saw and announced his commitment to the Urban Meyer’s program on Sunday night. While a capable passer, Martell is much more of a running threat, more akin to what Braxton Miller brought to the table.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Martell is the highest-rated quarterback prospect the Buckeyes have attracted since Braxton Miller signed with the 2011 class. Martell had been committed to Texas A&M before backing away from that pledge in early May. Those tweets caused Corona (Calif.) Centennial receiver Tyjon Lindsey to eliminate A&M among schools he was considering and Crosby receiver Mannie Netherly to decommit from A&M. From the beginning of his recruitment, Martell always said he planned to take all five official visits before making his decision.

The 2017 Ohio State recruiting class was already ranked number 1 in the nation before Martell’s commitment. “This really puts the Ohio State quarterback position in better shape than any team in the country moving forward”.
