Draymond Green suspended for Game 5 of NBA Finals

Green was suspended for Sunday’s Game 5 after the league determined his altercation with LeBron James in Game 4 should result in a Flagrant Foul 1.

Green will serve his suspension as the Warriors attempt to clinch their second straight NBA title in Monday’s game at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. He has averaged 14.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists in the series and was a candidate for NBA Finals MVP.

Everyone wanted to talk about free throws and officiating on Sunday afternoon at Golden State’s practice facility.

Not himself through the first three games of the NBA Finals, Curry silenced his critics by pushing the Golden State Warriors within one win of making more history in this season of seasons.

James guarded Green in Games 3 and 4, with Love often matching up with Golden State small forward Harrison Barnes, who had eight quick points vs. Jefferson on Friday. James has won two champion… Green took exception to it and flailed his arm on the way up, catching James in the groin area before flailing his arm again and catching him in the back.

The Warriors are the better team in the series and the best team in the world, and they are these things largely because of Green.

Kyrie Irving scored 34 points for the Cavs, who need to win Game 5 or they’ll finish as runner-up to the Warriors for the second year in a row.

The league reviewed the contact Green made in the fourth quarter of Game 4 of the Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers and deemed it “unnecessary” and “retaliatory”, leading to the Flagrant Foul 1. “We know what words cross the line, male or female”. It wasn’t the only reason I came back, and there wasn’t just one reason why I came back.

Last year’s Game 4 was on a Thursday, a big night for television viewership.

“I felt like that was disrespectful”, Green told The Undefeated after the game. We said what we had to say. “I’m all cool with the competition”.

Dellavedova appeared to accidentally strike Warriors guard Andre Iguodala in the genitals when swatting at the ball from behind in game one.

The next win is the only one that really matters to them. The Cavs, it would seem, don’t have a lot going for them. With Green in the lineup, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Golden State would have lost at home with so much at stake. “Sometimes players, your actions or emotions get the best of you….” That’s just the way it is.

With a few minutes left in the fourth quarter, James and Green became tangled up.

Klay Thompson might also have fallen down LeBron’s likable list Sunday. “I could be bad at math, but usually they tend to get more calls than us”.

“He never gets calls”, Lue said about James, who has tested the Warriors’ inside defense time and again on single-minded drives to the hoop. “I mean, obviously we saw what they were able to do without Steph for two weeks, playing against Houston and playing against Portland”. I’m just kind of shocked some guys take it so personal. “…I’m not going to comment on what Klay said …”

“Oh my goodness”, James said, stopping before and after to laugh. “I’m not going to back down from you”.

The constant has been Draymond Green. And he doesn’t get a fair whistle all the time because of his strength and because of his power and guys bounce off of him. “But it’s something that we can rally upon”.

“There is an opportunity for a guy to step in”. Us as players, we’ve got to play on no matter what happens. I know he’s going to give us positive energy.
