“This is our pride month, and to see something like this in the midst of a month that’s really about celebrating our community was just shocking”, says Alex Patel, the President of the Bridge Alliance.

A vigil was held in Rehoboth Beach by the LGBTQ community in the wake of the night club shooting that left around 50 dead and similar number wounded in Orlando.
The gunman, Omar Mateen, was shot and killed by police.
His father told media outlets that his son had expressed hostility to the gay and lesbian community.
“I think it’s an unfortunate time in our country, there’s so much hate, whether it’s against the LGBT community, whether it’s against Muslims in the United States, or whether it’s against African Americans”, Nickkel said.
The vigil is at 7 p.m. Monday at Civic Center plaza in downtown Mankato.
Maine’s LGBT community is reacting to the news that Sunday’s deadly mass shooting happened at a gay nightclub.

Mourners say in the previous year the amount of negativity towards the LGBTQ community has grown, while Sunday’s massacre comes after Pride Weekend. “We’re coming together to offer prayer, thoughts and.to console each other”.
