Man Utd To Offer R1.7bn For PSG Star

They claim Manchester United are on the verge of making a frankly ridiculous money-no-object bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, reportedly in the region of €100 million, or around £79 million.

Verratti, who joined PSG from Italian side Pescara back in 2012, is now under contract with the reigning French champions until 2020 – with the club’s chiefs desperate to keep hold of the central midfielder, despite his recent injury-hit term.

The report also states that while Manchester United are interested in signing the young Italian, another possible signing – in the like of Zlatan Ibrahimovic – could further convince Verratti to swap the Parc des Princes for Old Trafford.

United have recently boosted their midfield options by renewing the contract of Michael Carrick, until June 2017.

The 23-year-old has made 15 senior appearances for Italy and scored one goal at senior worldwide level.

Ibrahimovic, who’s widely expected to complete his free transfer move to Manchester United once Euro 2016 finishes, has reportedly urged Jose Mourinho to bring Verratti to Old Trafford.
