Police say they’re investigating whether a New Mexico man suspected of killing his wife and four daughters fled to Mexico.

This photo provided by the Roswell Police Department shows Juan David Villegas-Hernandez.

Investigators have not yet released a possible motive in the case, and a police spokesman said local authorities had little — if any — contact with the suspect over the years.

Todd Wildermuth, a Roswell police spokesman, said investigators had learned that Villegas-Hernandez had visited his family in Mexico frequently over the years.

Wildermuth says authorities were searching for a male suspect Sunday but did not immediately identify him.

They are not yet being identified but police believe the victims are all members of the same family.

He was arrested Sunday afternoon by Mexican authorities, who alerted Roswell police.

Investigators were working to determine whether the man in custody is Villegas-Hernandez.

While the biggest massacre in US history occurred at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, another mass shooting is flying under the radar.
