Sling TV launches on Apple TV
For example, Sling is adding Viacom’s suite of cable channels, like Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and VH1. The channels are available across Sling TV’s beta multi-stream and single-stream services. Users with fourth generation Apple TVs can now download the Sling TV app from the App Store, offering access to the platform’s single-stream, beta multi-stream, Sling Latino and Sling International options.

Through a unique pact with Apple, the service and the hardware will be sold together: The newest Apple TV box will be discounted to $89 when people pre-pay for three months of Sling TV’s $20-a-month subscription.
Cue went on to announce a new version of the Apple TV remote app. It lets you touch to navigate, offers Siri for commands, and lets you use the accelerometer and gyroscope to play games.
Apple noted during its presentation that Apple TV now has more than 6,000 native apps in addition to 1,300 “channels”. Likewise, the UI includes a new feature called My TV, “which allows customers to select their favorite channels, resume watching where they left off on select programs, and set favorite shows and movies for easy, one-click access”.
Sling TV also introduced its new “Comedy Plus Extra” package and rebranded its “Lifestyle Extra” as “Lifestyle Plus Extra”, each priced at $5 per month. This comes after Sling’s “When will Sling TV be on Apple TV?” help page read the following: “We are always looking to add to Sling TV’s supported devices”.
Sling TV L.L.C., a subsidiary of DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH), provides over-the-top television services including, domestic and global live and on-demand programming.
Today’s Sling TV launch on Apple TV also marks the debut for an overhauled interface Sling promised back at CES early this year.
Users of the Apple Pay service will soon be able to use it to buy products via the web. It is available on televisions, tablets, computers, smartphones and other streaming devices.
