E3 2016: Sony Announces Release Date for PSVR

It could fit into whatever the PlayStation E3 briefing will include on virtual reality, as this new Neo console appears to be created to complement the company’s new Virtual Reality headset.

There is a new Batman Arkham game in development for PlayStation VR. Persona 5, The Last Guardian, andNo Man’s Sky are also likely. Expect to see more than 10 PlayStation VR games in 2016.

At this point Sony still hasn’t announced the rumoured PS4.5 system – which means those rumours of the PS4 being incapable of running PSVR may have been just bunk.

Quantic Dream’s new game showed off the options available to players and the ongoing conflict between AI and humans.

The big buzz surrounding Microsoft at this year’s E3 is persistent rumors of a mid-cycle refresh for the Xbox hardware. Four months from now, you will be able to buy PlayStation VR.

Technically, Sony may either produce its own microprocessor that could be twice as powerful as the current one (PS4) or it can choose AMDs upcoming systems that can empower PS4 with Polaris GPU architecture and Zen CPU cores. For those of you who aren’t too familiar with video games, E3 is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it happens at the Los Angeles Convention Center every year. Most of the games shown off ended with a number; Halo Wars 2, Gears of War 4, Dead Rising 4, up to Tekken 7.

A United Kingdom price and release date are still to be confirmed. The PlayStation E3 live stream begins with a pre-show at 5:30 p.m. PDT (8:30 p.m. EDT).

After a long day full of announcements (and a developer conference from Apple), Sony is going to wrap things up at a brand new venue on the eve of E3 2016. Final Fantasy XV will have a “VR experience” available.

The Financial Times on June 10 reported that Sony is working on a PS4 model offering ultra-high definition graphics and computing power that can handle virtual reality experiences but will not unveil it at E3.
