Arkansas prisoner escapes; killed girl and put her in barrel

Police are searching for 40-year-old Lloyd Jones, who is an inmate at the East Arkansas Regional Correctional Facility in Brickeys. Graves said Jones was on a work crew at the maximum-security East Arkansas Unit near Brickeys.

“The search perimeter is focused around the escape location and adjacent areas”, Graves said in a statement shortly before 6 p.m.

Jones was serving a 60-year sentence for first degree murder and abuse of a corpse after being convicted in August 2012 in of Sebastian County.

Jones escaped from a work detail about two miles from the main prison on a patch of state property where prisoners where working on a construction site, Graves said. Jones’ last known address is in the 100 block of North Arkansas 96 in Lavaca, according to the Arkansas Department of Correction website.

“This was a case that affected the entire community, so we will do everything we can to assist the prison system in capturing the suspect”, Hollenbeck said. Allen’s family reported her missing February 11. Investigators said one of Jones’ girlfriends said that the night Allen disappeared, Jones had returned home muddy. He said he struck her so hard in the chest that she fell into the water.
