Britain’s royal family attended the annual Garter Day service Monday in London after a whirlwind weekend of official events.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a powder blue Catherine Walker coat dress and Jane Taylor hat.

While some of Kate’s outfits can cost thousands, Amanda Bell, 21, from Los Angeles, loves scouring the high street for replicas and is often forced to wait weeks in order to get her hands on the Duchess’s most loved pieces.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children didn’t make an appearance, but Glynis Double, who was at the event, related how George and Charlotte came up in a short conversation with the duchess. It’s the first time the 13-month-old princess has been seen publicly since her christening almost one year ago.

Kate Middleton was escorted between the two princes of the realm Prince William and Prince Harry while, as usual, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were left to walk unescorted and several paces behind their cousins. What’s a girl to do when the entire royal family assembles other than take inspiration from unexpected places?

At her latest engagement, however, Kate Middleton chose to test out one of this season’s most ubiquitous – yet potentially tricky to wear – trends: the ‘cold shoulder’. The ceremony was held to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday and her remarkable life.

“Some of you may know that I love sport”, she began.

Her Majesty and Prince Philip drove in open air Range Rovers down the Mall to greet 10,000 members of the more than 600 charities for which Her Majesty serves as patron.

Sunday saw Kate sporting a colourblock dress from Roksanda Ilincic – that was quite the bargain!
