Apple’s Siri coming to Mac desktops and laptops

The company is also attempting to relieve some password fatigue by letting you log on to your computer with your Apple Watch, so you don’t have to type another password. How ironic is that you can have the best smartphone with the best OS in the world, with Google services and apps all integrated at the system level, yet with Android you get all those great Google services but on disgusting phones with a shoddy OS and no Apple? Executives said that Siri is now coming to desktop computers – soon consumers will be able to talk to your Mac computer just the way that you talk to your phone. The latest version of tvOS will come out this fall. The company also opened its once-maligned Maps app to developers, with the goal of enabling a range of easy-to-use features.

Such AI features are emerging as a major new tech battleground, one where Apple is racing to catch up with other virtual assistants from Google and Amazon. For example, developers can now write apps for Siri to help it book cars with Uber or buy movie tickets via Fandango.

Great news for all Apple fanboys out there, as the new iOS 10 Sierra ( there’s a odd resemblance with Windows 10, doesn’t it?) will hit your Cupertino-made devices later on this Fall.

Siri today responds to over 2 billion requests each week from customers.

Apple’s answer is software, particularly its update of iOS 10 on the iPhone, which will be available in the fall.

Apple also unveiled a faster operating system for the Apple Watch and a more simple, slick interface for its Apple Music streaming service. Moreover, there is a new dock mechanism and control center like on iOS. The goal, according to Apple, is to give “greater clarity and simplicity” to the service, which how has 15 million subscribers.

However, software updates will be greeted with happiness when it comes to early Apple Watch adopters.

Messages can now also be resized and animated in order to add different sentiments, while handwritten notes can now also be sent for the first time.

Also opening to outside developers will be the Apple Maps application, which had a rocky debut marked by glitches in 2012.

The next version of Apple’s software for watches will also include an “SOS” feature that will automatically call for help in emergencies. “Differential privacy, in which user data is mixed in with mathematical” noise” to provide user trends without compromising privacy, was also announced.

“Now you’ll be able to tell Siri to send a WeChat”, said Apple vice president Craig Federighi, referring to the Chinese messaging application. The new Mac operating system features Siri and Apple Pay.
