Many of those shocked and saddened by the mass shooting were quick to look for a way to help.

Equality Florida wrote on the page: “We have received a steady stream of emails and messages from those seeking to help or to make sense of the senseless”.

A GoFundMe campaign to support the victims of the mass shooting at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub raised $1 million faster than any other fundraising effort in the site’s history. The organization is working with a team of attorneys and experts, including the National Centre for Victims of Crime in the USA to ensure funds are distributed correctly’. Now they raised their goal to $5 million.

Singer songwriter Jeffree Star contributed $20,000.

“Our community and the rest of the world has spoken volumes by helping out, and it makes me feel less alone in a world where I’m not always accepted”, Star told CNNMoney. “It’s not about the dollar amount, it’s about being a decent person and standing up for human rights”.

An incredible 70,000 people have donated over $3million to the Orlando shooting victims, making it the fastest-growing charity in history. The group is also working with a variety of other organizations to coordinate blood donations, vigils, and grief/victim’s counseling.
