Microsoft has announced plans to release a pair of updates that will bring a host of new features to Xbox One owners, including support for Cortana voice commands. However, that feature has since been placed on the backburner for Microsoft for the time being. The update will bring in a more fully-featured Cortana implementation, which will allow for more granular voice controls for the console.

I imagine Cortana being hosted in the Cloud may be the reason here- the Xbox One itself doesn’t actually have to do any language processing.
The DVR was supposed to give users the ability to schedule recordings on the go and to download or stream shows to mobile devices. With the rumors of cross-play from Xbox to PlayStation, this gaming generation may be the first to see the end of the console wars. This is in contrast to pre-Nadella Microsoft, which had each one of the company’s arms in a different pot. With so many people using cable or satellite TV these days and already having a DVR in their home, losing a feature that never was might not be a big deal. Turns out the company is putting the whole project on hold, reports The Verge. Already integrated on Windows 10 computers, Cortana will make her console debut in the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Germany and Spain. With rumors of a smaller, cheaper, streaming-focused Xbox One that might be announced at next week’s electronic Entertainment Expo, though, that trend might be set to change a bit. If you are a preview member, you can start shouting Hey Cortana later this week.
The Xbox One is purportedly a willing recipient of some anniversary updates that Microsoft is rolling out not only for its Windows 10 users but also for Xbox One users. Previously you would need to use the Xbox App, but the fact it’s on the console now makes it more convenient.
