New Apple TV tipped for launch alongside the iPhone 6S

Analysts, however, think the company could also launch a new product, particularly a new generation of Apple TV sets as customers have been waiting for them for a long time.

After the massive success of Apple’s bigger-screen iPhone 6 and 6 Plus handsets, few expect much from this year’s model, the iPhone 6S, to be released in September.

It was originally expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June, but Apple instead focused on iOS 9 and Apple Music.

The report states that the new Apple TV will also feature a new, more functional remote control that uses a touchscreen. Some features to look forward to include a new remote, some new functions and support for Siri.

Late this week, it was reported that tech behemoth Apple based in Cupertino, California would make an upgrade to its set-top TV box during its annual September iPhone event. But the most notable changes are that the new Apple TV will have its own App Store along with a software development kit (SDK) for developers to build apps for the media streaming device.

The small black box that streams TV shows is equipped with an A8 chip, which is a powerful technology used in many Apple devices these days.

Cook said, “We had an incredible quarter, with iPhone revenue up 59 percent over last year, strong sales of Mac, all-time record revenue from services, driven by the App Store, and a great start for Apple Watch”. IGN has reached out to Apple for further information on the new Apple TV.

Numerous reports have said that the launch of the new Apple TV has been delayed by difficulties putting together the video content for the accompanying subscription offering. Current rumors suggest Apple’s television offering will bundle approximately 25 channels and cost between $30 to $40 per month.

Apple may be planning to launch a new version of its Apple TV this fall. However, Paczkowski’s sources say that the Apple TV will be launching separately from the subscription service, which may be available sometime in 2016.
