Once I got all of my nerdy pop-culture connections out of the way, the chemistry between Clarke and Claflin were enough to carry the movie smoothly to the end.
The third main character in the film is Clark’s quirky fashion sense, and her frilly sweaters, colorful skirts, playful leggings and marvelous footwear beam with a life of their own.
Now, does this mean that I’m the funniest person she’ll ever meet? Yes. Her task will be to provide cheer, since Will’s medical needs are already tended to by a nurse (though the movie shows hardly any of this). On a basic level, it’s engaging watching Lou enter this new world for which she is entirely unprepared, and indulgent audiences will be rooting for Lou to crack Will’s tough exterior. “That is how fully she has taken root in my imagination”. “But it wasn’t like, ‘I’m a fan of the show.’ Actually, that was a part of it, but I was like, ‘I’m also a fan of your Instagram.’ Which I don’t know if it is a weird thing to say”, Jonas, 23, recalled to host Nick Grimshaw. Though it’s Lou and Will’s story, the other characters are well-drawn and mostly likable, especially Lou’s family members, all of whom have big personalities. The choice Will ultimately makes won’t be revealed here.
