The building collapsed around 2.30 am today and teams from the Thane Fire Brigade, Police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rushed to the spot immediately, the sources said. On July 28, a residential building had collapsed in Thakurli in Thane, killing nine.
11 people were killed and seven others injured when a 50-year-old three-storey building collapsed in B Cabin area in Mumbai’s twin suburb of Thane in early hours of Tuesday.
“Around 2am, I heard a loud noise. Fire engines rushed to the spot in next 15 minutes”, Rajan Khatri, a security guard in the adjacent building, told Hindustan Times. Rescuers pulled out six people alive from debris till now.
The building collapse in Thane district last week. Ahead of the mishap, looking at the shabby condition of the building, the Municipal Corporation of Thane issued a notice to its residents to evacuate it. But some of the families did not consider it and continued to live in there.
