KABC An exterminator battles bees on Monday in Riverside, Calif., after a construction worker was killed and two others injured by an raging swarm.
A construction worker died after a bee swarm attacked him and at least two co-workers along the 5200 block of Van Buren Boulevard near a Walmart and a McDonalds just before 10 a.m. Monday, August 3, in Riverside.
Another worker was said to be in moderate condition.
One of the three victims, identified only as an electrician with Perris-based JDI Electrical Solutions, had a severe allergic reaction and was transported to Parkview Community Hospital, where he died, the California Department of Industrial Relations told City News Service. “The bees swarmed these guys and stung three of them”. “It happened pretty quick, really”. Other workers turned on a water truck in attempt to disperse the bees.
A third worker was treated at the scene for stings.
The bees were “docile” and returned to their hive shortly after the attack, the Fire Department stated.

The bees had apparently built their hive in a buried sprinkler valve and rushed out when grading of the ground for a parking lot rattled their home, authorities said. “You could just see a swarm around his head”.
