UFC returns to Vancouver on August 27
Expect more fight card announcements for UFC on FOX 21, which also features a middleweight match up between Garreth McLellan and Alessio Di Chirico, to be announced in the coming weeks. Chirico is now winless under the UFC banner, dropping a fight to Bojan Velickovic at UFC Fight Night: Rothwell vs. Dos Santos.

Tom Wright, executive vice-president and GM for UFC operations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, confirmed Wednesday that Rogers Arena will host a televised Fight Night show on August 27.
In one of the evening’s confirmed bouts, former UFC lightweight champion and last-reigning WEC lightweight titleholder Anthony Pettis (18-5, fighting out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA), will make his featherweight debut against No.7 ranked contender Charles Oliveira (21-5 1NC, fighting out of Houston, Texas, USA by way of Sao Paulo, Brazil).
He was supposed to drop to 145 pounds for an immediate title shot against then-champion Jose Aldo in 2013, but that fight fell through when Pettis was forced out due to injury. In 2014, he became the only fighter to tap Japanese great Hatsu Hioki. A September 3 event is to be streamed on UFC Fight Pass from Hamburg, Germany.
An aggressive Muay Thai striker with one of the slickest submission skill sets in MMA, Oliveira has submitted standouts, such as Myles Jury, Nik Lentz and Jonathan Brookins. Clearly Vancouver’s a world-class city. “This will be our fourth event (in Vancouver) so we’re really excited about it and can hardly wait”, Wright said about the card.

The Vancouver show will be televised by Fox south of the border, only the second Fox show to be held outside the USA – the first was headlined by Alexander (The Mauler) Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson in Stockholm, in January 2015. The promotion announced that they will be in the Rogers Arena on August 27.
