Apple Opens Siri to Third-Party Developers

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the new features and we are more than excited about the renovations, which will take place on October with the iOS 10 release.

Apple revealed at the recent WWDC that it will be rolling out the iOS 10 for their products when the expected new iPhone or presumably “iPhone 7” is released to the markets this September. The new iOS is so smart it can highlight “emojifiable” words, giving users a heads up if they would like to change the word “pizza” to an image of a slice or find the ideal emoji face to express the word “love”.

The new operating system won’t be compatible with older iPhones or older iPads. A single command can control or manage a group of actions, and it can be controlled using Siri, remotely or from home automation using Apple TV. Apple did the gesture following the many reviews that the app is confusing to use.

The technology giant made major announcements late on Monday at the Worldwide Developer’s Conference in San Francisco, California.

The ability to include Siri voice functionality into your applications will mean you’ll be able to support features that your users access by saying “Hey Siri”.

The coming update to watchOS, meanwhile, will make it easier for users to launch apps, as well as navigate and track health and fitness goals. This is not at all surprising as we’ve seen Apple take a similar approach with other iOS features in the past, such as its multitasking APIs. More importantly, the app has been opened up for developers to come up with new customisation options like stickers or personalised GIFs such as the ones offered by Jib Jab.

When you tap out a text message iOS 10 will search for and highlight words that can be “emojinized”. Apple stated that when such a stock app is deleted, related user data and configuration files pertaining to the app could also be removed.

Other new features being introduced in macOS Sierra include Tabs for nearly any app, picture-in-picture capability and a new Memories feature in Photos that adds facial, object and scene recognition for sorting, grouping and categorizing photographs. Considering the popularity of messaging apps right now, from Messenger to Snapchat to WhatsApp and more, I hope iMessage gets an upgrade. Mac users, for the first time, can use voice to search for photos, documents and files.
