Police are trying to determine whether a man arrested Tuesday for allegedly threatening a Seattle mosque also threatened a Redmond mosque last weekend.

With that information, SWAT and hostage negotiators responded to the man’s apartment in the 11700 block of Greenwood Avenue North shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday. He surrendered at his home after about 30 minutes of negotiation with police.

Seattle police are working with the FBI to investigate the “rapidly developing” case, according to police.

The suspect allegedly threatened to attack the mosque, KOMO-TV reported, citing a police source.

“The more important thing is that we are human beings, and we have to love each other”, said Mohammad Ali Mokrani. They did not name the mosque.

“Investigators have learned the man has previously been contacted by area law enforcement who are investigating harassment and threats to another mosque”, the spokesperson continued.
