The 31-year-old found himself on the fringes of Jürgen Klopp’s first-team throughout last season, making just 27 appearances although the Reds played 63 fixtures across all competitions.

The Daily Express quotes the agent of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, Mithat Halis, as revealing three clubs are interested in the services of the Slovakian defender- but Besiktas are not one of them. The Slovakia global began the season as first choice, but was unable to regain his place after a long injury absence and only came into the team late in the season following Sakho’s suspension for failing a drug test.

Skrtel has made 320 appearances since Liverpool purchased the player from Zenit, and it appears likely that he’s pulled on the Liverpool kit for the last time.
