Trump to discuss terrorism watch list, no fly ban with NRA
In an op-ed titled “Gun laws don’t deter terrorists”, chief NRA lobbyist Chris W. Cox argued that limiting access to firearms has failed to completely stop terrorist shootings in the West, making further legislation “the definition of insanity”.

“We’re not saying: don’t sell guns to someone just because they were investigated”, Nelson said in a statement.
The NRA, which endorsed Trump in May, said in a tweet it is “happy” to meet with him.
Trump didn’t specify Wednesday if he will challenge the NRA about people on the terror watch and no fly lists being allowed to buy guns or if he simply wants to negotiate with the lobby.
Senator Bill Nelson, a Florida Democrat, has introduced a bill to require that FBI investigators be notified whenever anyone ever investigated for terrorism buys a gun.
“Due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed”, said the NRA’s Cox. That has been the position of Sen.
Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Trump said in November he would “absolutely” support blocking terror suspects on a terror watch list from buying a gun.
The NRA endorsed Trump last month. On Tuesday, the group said on Twitter that barring people on watch lists from buying guns is “ineffective, unconstitutional, or both”. After going after Democrats for not being tough enough of terrorism, O’Reilly conceded that gun crime is a problem in the US, and that guns are too easy to get. The nonprofit group advocates for gun rights.
People purchasing guns from federally licensed firearms dealers must undergo background checks, and those transactions can be blocked if they fall into any of 10 categories.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has also reiterated her call for a ban on gun sales to Federal Bureau of Investigation terror suspects, as well as a ban on assault weapons and universal background checks for firearm purchases.
He added, “By the way, I’m going to save your Second Amendment”.
Top Democratic senators told reporters they’d seek a fresh vote on a proposal by Sen.
Proponents insist that measures to ban possession of high-capacity ammunition magazines and close a loophole in California’s existing assault weapons ban by prohibiting long guns with “bullet buttons” are needed to keep Californians safe and prevent another mass shooting here from being so deadly.
A spokesperson for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment on where he stands on the Feinstein and Cornyn amendments.
During that time, law enforcement officials would need to perform an investigation and convince a judge not to allow the person to buy a gun.
“It hasn’t been our priority policy push for a few years because we are focused on what we can to prevent the most possible gun violence and we are certain the best way to do that is not by focusing on taking away certain guns away from all people but what we agree on which keeping all guns away from certain people – convicted violent criminals, domestic abusers, the dangerously mentally ill”, Gross said.
“Without proper protections for people to find out if they are put on the no fly list and a quick way to get off of it if wrongly put on it, we can not support it”, Alan Gottlieb, the Second Amendment Foundation’s founder, told the Free Beacon.
