Gareth Bale: ‘Wales are more passionate than England, who big themselves up’

The more optimistic fans might want to consider England at 10/1 to be runners up and 9/1 to win Euro 2016.

It is very much like a local derby, I think we have got enough to beat them but they have got some quality players and sometimes perhaps too many for the manager to pick the right blend. The support we’ve had here and at home in Wales has really inspired us.

I would love to see Wales get out of the group and then if you get a bit of luck, you can perhaps get to the semi-finals.

Anyway Coleman, who has to keep his players entertained, seeing as he decided they would all be flying solo, had the craic with photographers this morning – not so subtly holding up a “teamsheet”.

“It was a disappointing result in Sweden, but we’re looking to make amends and hit the ground running”.

We will be bringing you live updates in the build-up to the match, and during the game.

“Once he took over, everything changed”, said Earnshaw, who now coaches the Vancouver Whitecaps” U-15 pre-residency team.

Kozak said: ‘He is a top player, and not just for Wales.

“Everybody kind of stood back and thought, ‘Wow, OK”.

Gareth Bale scored seven of Wales’ 11 goals in Euro qualifying.

But he said: “I was always confident I would be fine, even though a few people around me were panicking”.

“It won’t just be a match between Gareth Bale and Marek Hamsik. Of course he’s gonna make a difference”.

“Bale cannot be a great threat to the opponent without the team“. Earnshaw had high praise for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, and especially for the team’s back line-and defender Ashley Williams in particular.

Bale, who has 55 caps, said: “England big themselves up before they have done anything”. If you look at us in qualifying we were mean and did not concede goals.

“They believe they can beat us. We are here to perform”, he added.

“There was hard times for a while, but we were all young and building for the future, ” said Bale.

Liverpool’s Joe Allen and Reading striker Jal Robson-Kanu also trained and look set to start in Saturday’s Euro 2016 Group B opener against Slovakia in Bordeaux. “When England and Wales are playing, it’s huge”.

What is interesting about those Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings is that Slovakia are the outsiders in the group at 9/1 and it is in fact Russia who are second favourites at 10/3.

Meanwhile, Slovakia’s manager Jan Kozak described Welsh star Gareth Bale as one of the best players in the world. ‘They went all out and did what they needed to.
