Orlando nightclub gunman visited gay chat rooms, officials say
Omar Mateen had opened fire at Pulse nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing at least 49 people and injuring more than 50 others.

A report by MSNBC, which cited different, unnamed individuals, said that Salman had driven him around as he scouted for different areas to carry out the attack.
“I appreciate Facebook’s support of the law-enforcement investigation into this attack and previous attacks”.
According to reports, the gunman called a friend to say goodbye before the final shootout that resulted in his death. He did not hear his son talk about the brothers who set off two bombs at the Boston Marathon finish line in 2013, or about fighters for the so-called Islamic State.
A number of possible motives and explanations have emerged, with Mateen calling 911 to profess allegiance to ISIS, his ex-wife saying he was mentally ill and abusive and his father suggesting he hated gays.
The wife of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen reportedly tried talking him out of the attack, according to NBC News. On June 4, 2016, Mateen apparently searched “Baghdadi Speech”.
Seddique Mateen, the father of the terrorist (NCRM will not use his name or photo unless necessary) has said in recent days he does not believe his son was gay (it’s undetermined and irrelevant if he was or was not), and said his son should have let god punish gay people.
“She definitely is, I guess you would say, a person of interest right now and appears to be cooperating and can provide us with some important information”, King said.
Investigators working to determine whether anyone had advance knowledge of the attack have spoken extensively with Salman and are working to establish whether she and Mateen were recently at or inside the club, the official said.
She grew up in the Chicago suburbs and lived in northern California before moving to Florida with Mateen.
The test he took that month was held inside the St. Lucie Shooting Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida – the very same place where Mateen legally purchased the assault rifle and handgun he used in the Pulse bloodbath.
The two have been married since 2011 and have a three-year-old son. Grindr officials said they “will continue to cooperate with the authorities and do not comment on ongoing investigations”. Mateen, 29, was a USA citizen, born in NY to Afghan immigrant parents, and worked as a security guard. They noted that straight people patronized the club as well as gay people, and wouldn’t speculate on Mateen’s sexuality.
The FBI is investigating if Mateen was really gay, and if he lashed out at a life he couldn’t bring himself to be a part of.
“Do you know about the shooting?” a man asked Gentili. When police drove Mateen back into a restroom, an officer dragged Colon to safety, he said.

“He appears to have been an angry, disturbed, unstable young man who became radicalized”, said Obama, who was set to visit Orlando on Thursday to show solidarity with survivors and relatives of the dead.
