Obama backs Clinton after White House meeting with Sanders
Donors said the former secretary of state spoke about next steps going forward, including taking on Trump, but they added that Clinton didn’t seem to dwell on the presumptive Republican nominee and instead described the point of her campaign as “helping people restore faith in the political process”. With the primary contests all but over, a series of top Democrats formally announced their support for Clinton, headlined by the glowing endorsement of President Barack Obama on Thursday.

Trump assailed the endorsement on Twitter: “He wants four more years of Obama – but nobody else does!”
Within two hours her message was retweeted 200,000 times, making it “the most retweeted tweet of the campaign!” according to Clinton’s social media director Alex Wall. After leaving the White House, Sanders met with Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who invited him to speak at a Senate luncheon next week, and Sen.

Obama stayed publicly neutral through the sometimes-bitter race, mindful that his involvement could tarnish his standing with parts of his own loyal coalition, namely young people and progressives.
