Euro 2016: France Starts Deporting Russian Soccer Fans Over Marseille Violence

The sanctions against the RFU were outlined in a statement by the independent UEFA body, in which it confirmed: “A suspended disqualification of the Russian national team from UEFA Euro 2016 for the crowd disturbances”.

The police stopped a bus carrying Russians and detained them.

“These verifications have been carried out on the basis of intelligence … leading us to think they were present in Marseille”, said Xavier Lauch, cabinet director of the prefect of the Alpes Maritimes department.
