Sangeet Som’s ‘Nirbhay Yatra’ to Kairana Stopped by UP Police
Som then issued an ultimatum to the UP government and asked it to ensure that people who migrated were brought back.

Both politicians did not have permission to hold their rallies or yatras and were immediately stopped by the UP administration.
He claimed the Uttar Pradesh Government has intelligence reports which suggest that there was no exodus from Kairana. 16 of those mentioned in the list are already dead and families of 3 of them still live in Kairana.
Security has been heightened in Shamli district as a precautionary measure, Meerut District Collector Pankaj Yadav said. Section 144 is in force. “No one will be allowed to break the law in this situation”. Som said he postponed his “Paidal Nirbhay Yatra” after prohibitory orders were enforced. “Either those who have migrated return back or we’ll have to take to the streets”, said Som. The BJP is keen to polarise communities, the sources said, “and we know that, and will not allow it as it will work against us as it did in the Lok Sabha elections”. “UP BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya called up and said that wherever the authorities stop you, you have to abide by the law”, Som said while appealing to people to follow the law.
The BJP MP later made a u-turn, saying the “migration” of Hindus from Kairana was “not communal” in nature, but was more to do with the law and order situation. On June 14, he stressed that the exodus was not a communal issue but of law and order.
“Those involved in doing politics over deaths are now trying to save the Akhilesh Yadav government on the issue by raising questions on the list provided by us”, he said. “More than 350 Hindu families of Kairana have been forced to leave their ancestral houses and thriving business establishments”. In Kairana no one migrated. He claimed that the number of families that had to flee can go up to 400-500.

Meanwhile, the nine-member BJP delegation which visited Kairana to probe the alleged “migration” of Hindu families on Wednesday targeted the UP government over the deteriorating law and order condition in the state.
