The woman was headed to the hospital for delivery along with her husband and 2-year-old son when she went into labor around 2:30 a.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The baby girl is called Asenat and weighs six pounds, 14 oz (3.1 kilos). The woman said she felt the baby coming, and officers prepared the area for a possible birth. Mother and baby were transported to Beekman Downtown Hospital via EMS.
The newborn Asenat Abdrab, with Port Authority Police Officer Brian McGraw.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo chimed in on social media congratulating the parents on the newest addition to their family.
