Bogut likely to miss Olympics due to knee injury

Golden State Warriors medical staff say he will need six to eight weeks to recover from the left knee bone bruises suffered in a collision in Monday’s NBA Finals game five against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bogut, who traveled to Cleveland for Thursday’s Game Six, where the Warriors have another chance to capture their second consecutive National Basketball Association title, suffered a “significant impaction injury” to his left knee in Game Five, the team said in a statement. Bogut told reporters. Andrew Bogut said that he has heard his knee crack when Cavaliers guard JR Smith crashed into him. “We are going to re-evaluate it in a month and if a miracle happens and it feels great in a month and I can get back on the court, we’ll see”.

“Obviously it’s frustrating, but nothing I can really do about it”, Bogut said of the freak injury. “Hope my team will perform the best without me” Bogut added. Bogut called that “pretty disappointing”, and that is a pretty big understatement. “Somehow he cannon-balled right into my shin with his shoulder”.

Andrew Bogut is unlikely to put on Australia’s jersey for the Olympics. The chief coach of the team Andrej Lemanis became much disappointed to have heard the news and said “I can not think off a team without Bogut. As of now it’s not looking good”. Facing each other for the title in a second-straight season, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors are beginning to develop a tension that seems increasingly personal. He is our most crucial player. Detroit Pistons centre Aron Baynes has played quality minutes for the Boomers and stands as ready replacement in the five spot, although a Bogut-Baynes rotation through the middle would be top of the wish list for coach Andrej Lemanis.
