FBI investigating whether Orlando killer was a club regular
ORLANDO-Thousands gathered for vigils late Monday in Orlando, New York and Los Angeles in memory of the 49 people killed at a Florida gay nightclub in the worst mass shooting in modern US history.

Omar Mateen’s current wife, Noor, told the Federal Bureau of Investigation she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster, several officials familiar with the case said.
He also said the “FBI asked her not to tell this to the American media”, the New York Post reported.
And one co-worker, Daniel Gilroy, said that when Mateen didn’t want to be friends, Mateen went “boiled-rabbit insane”.
In another weird twist shocking vision of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen has come to light showing him engaged in an extraordinary rant that has been captured by documentary filmmakers. “Men”, Jim Van Horn, 71, told The Associated Press.
Several regulars at the gay nightclub said the gunman visited frequently over the past few years.
“He would walk up to them and put his arm around them or something and maybe try to get them to dance a little bit or something and go over and buy them a drink”.
Brian Malte, the national policy director for the Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence, said getting a gun is far too easy in Florida – and added that private firearm sales do not require any background checks at all.
Asked about reports that Mateen may have been in the club before, his father, Seddique Mateen, said from his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida, that his son may have been “scouting the place”. But the investigation took a new twist after witnesses said Mateen – a practising Muslim with a wife and a young son – had been a regular at Pulse. Mateen had a wife and 3-year-old son.
Other messages that the letter claims Mateen posted to the social media platform include: “America and Russian Federation stop bombing the Islamic state.I pledge my alliance to abu bakr al Baghdadi.may Allah accept me”, Mateen wrote on one account, referring to ISIS’ leader.
Authorities are considering filing criminal charges against Noor for failing to tell them what she knew before the massacre, but no decision has been made, NBC says. He said Mateen was clearly “radicalized”, at least in part via the internet. If he had seen anything differently, he said, “I would have called law enforcement immediately”. The FBI said on Monday it was “highly confident” that Mateen had been self-radicalised by reading extremist propaganda online. Vigil for victims Thousands of people gathered in Orlando late Monday for a vigil honouring the victims, who ranged in age from 18 to 50.
The Pulse nightclub was turned into a bloodbath by Mateen. Numerous wounded remained hospitalised.
West was dropping off a friend at the club when he noticed Mateen – whom he knew by sight but not by name – crossing the street wearing a dark cap and carrying a black cellphone about 1 a.m., an hour before the shooting. “We make it very easy for individuals who are troubled or disturbed or want to engage in violent acts to get very powerful weapons very quickly”, Obama said.
