State unemployment rate stays steady; Nebraska ranks 3rd among states
South Carolina’s unemployment rate has fallen slightly in the last month.

The information, financial activities, other services, and government sectors also saw gains, for a combined increase of more than 32,000 jobs.
New figures from the Arizona Department of Administration put the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 5.6 percent. The number of unemployed people dropped almost 4,500, to 129,000.
Major cities with the lowest unemployment rates are: Vestavia Hills at 3.6 percent, Homewood at 3.7 percent and Alabaster and Hoover at 4.2 percent.
Many states with very low unemployment rates are small.
Heavy losses in manufacturing and construction jobs in May were almost offset by gains in health and education services.
The unemployment rate had been 3.1 percent in both February and March before rising to 3.2 percent in April and then remaining at that level in May. Over the year, the bay area has added 46,100 jobs, second only to Orlando among Florida metros.
Mining and construction as well as trade, transportation, and utilities grew last month.
But what makes Cochise County stand out is the trend, with total employment down 1.2 percent in the past year.

The establishment survey, which is conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), a division of the U.S. Department of Labor, surveys employers to measure how many jobs are in the economy. Major cities with the highest unemployment rates are: Selma at 10.3 percent, Prichard at 9.1 percent, and Bessemer at 8.4 percent.
