The FBI investigated another incident reported by the gun store owner that coincided with Mateen’s possible visit, three law enforcement officials told CNN.
The official said it is not clear what Mateen was up to. Mateen, 29, was later killed in a shootout with police. She’s apparently cooperating with officials. Prosecutors had concerns about jury nullification – which is when jurors acquit someone despite believing them to be guilty – and whether any of her interactions with her husband after the bombing constituted a spousal privilege. The timing and content of the phone call also appears to make sense.

Also on the day of the Pulse shooting, Mateen posted on the internet “Now taste the Islamic state vengeance.” and searched a number of keywords such as Pulse and shooting.
Gentili said he was momentarily speechless. In his remarks to 911 and over the years, Mateen has claimed some ties or connections to opposing groups.
