Tony Stewart loves NASCAR’s new aero package, hates restarts

The previous youngest average age for a top three was 24.7 (three times, dating back to 1951 at Charlotte Speedway). Logano sped away when the racing went green again and coasted to the win, seemingly taking advantage of the new aero package.

Joey Logano won the FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday, June 12 at Michigan International Speedway.

“He must have just lost the nose of his auto, ” Earnhardt said.

With eight laps to go, Logano needed a solid restart. Logano’s margin over Elliott was.889 of a second. NASCAR took a shot with a new aero package for the cup side this week to cut down even more downforce to try and help the racing at the home of the big three automakers. “I have guys up there younger than me racing for a win”. The shortest rear spoiler height in decades dictated very fast and loose race cars.

Dale Earnhardt Jr’s chances ended when he hit the wall after contact with AJ Allmendinger on Lap 61, and Kyle Busch’s day was over when he blew an engine after 52 laps. “(We) did see some things; I think the middle of the field we did see cars running together and passing, so yeah, I think (there is) more work to do”.

“Restarts for sure were pretty insane there”, said Larson, 23, who posted his second top-10 finish in six races at MI. “But it’s a whole other experience to be here in person”, Tugen said. “I didn’t expect him to struggle”. After dominating most of the season to start the year, Busch has had four straight bad weeks.

“The good thing is Goodyear is primed and ready to do all the stuff they need to do”.

“If you chose the right spot or got put in the right spot you were good”, he said.

“You can’t blame anybody”, he said. “That’s just the way life is”.

Today’s 1 p.m. race will be televised on FS1, and you can follow along live at NASCAR’s Race Center.

Third place Kyle Larson, 23 years old. Bad Brad will be a longshot to crack the top-five.

The pole-setter moved past rookie Chase Elliott on lap 153 Sunday and stayed ahead for the 15th Sprint Cup series victory of his career in the 15th race of the year.

“We just have such high standards after the last couple years we’ve had”, Earnhardt said”.

But as promising as Elliott and Larson may be, it is Logano who is the standard-bearer among NASCAR’s next generation. A scary proposition considering Logano won a series-best six times last season and advanced to the 2014 championship finale with his title hopes coming undone not by driver error or a lack of experience, but via a miscue by his pit crew.

But that didn’t mean Keselowski backed down from how he felt over what he felt were some slights about the Penske team.

Tony Stewart, who produced a seventh-place result, said Goodyear must now concoct a tire to supplement the changes. “I think we talk about packages too much”.

Runner-up Chase Elliott, 20 years old.

That combination of experience and youth manifested itself at MI. And with Elliott and Larson in tow, a resounding message was delivered on Sunday.
