Premier League Fixtures 2016/17: Arsenal Handed Tough Start To New Season

The Premier League have published the fixtures 2016/17 season and for Manchester City’s new manager, Pep Guardiola, the list will have made interesting reading.

It will all begin on the weekend commencing 13/14 August and the Reds will be determined to produce a winning start as part of an exciting new era under new management at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have also collected more points in opening matches (51) than any other Premier league side, with Manchester United second on 49. Tickets are already available to buy for that game.

West Ham’s first league match at its new home, the Olympic Stadium, will be against Bournemouth on August 20.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit have to play Arsenal away, Burnley at home, Spurs away, Leicester at home and Chelsea away in the first five fixtures, but because of the Anfield redevelopment, it could get even harder… Since then they have started 14 Premier League campaigns with a win and only three with a draw.

Ronald Koeman’s first task as Everton manager will be to host Tottenham Hotspur, coached by his predecessor at Southampton, Maurico Pochettino.

Liverpool are not ruling out switching their first home game of the 2016-17 season to be played away from Anfield in order to complete their renovation work, Press Association Sport reports.

The Mercury have analysed the fixtures for the key areas of the season, from the opening few weeks and the post-Champions League fixtures to the AFCON period and the run-in.

The Dutchman left England’s South with a 2-1 defeat to digest, and the Cherries have been confirmed as Manchester United’s opening day opponents for the 2016/17 campaign.

February, meanwhile, sees two of these same names – Man City and Chelsea – on the agenda, while Leicester’s visit to the Liberty comes sandwiched in between.
