Activists look to build on momentum of Sanders campaign

With two more polls released Thursday, Hillary Clinton is riding a 12-poll winning streak over Donald Trump; elsewhere, USA TODAY’s Susan Page spoke with third-place candidate Gary Johnson, and Bernie Sanders addressed his supporters and vowed to keep fighting until the heat death of the universe.

She said she’s not ready to give up hope for Sanders because Clinton is “the status quo”. “We must take that energy into the Democratic National Convention on July 25 in Philadelphia where we will have more than 1,900 delegates”, he said.

Warren is slamming Trump for allegedly using deceptive marketing practices for the now defunct Trump University and says he’s only qualified to be “fraudster in chief”.

As everyone who is knowledgeable about the functioning of the Democratic Party knows, the platform is a meaningless document which has played no role in the actual formulation of policy for decades.

With Sanders seeming to wind down his campaign, one live choice for the left is the Green Party’s Dr. Jill Stein. Ayotte says she will support Trump as the GOP nominee but has criticized many of his remarks.

Sanders continued, “I also look forward to working with Secretary Clinton to transform the Democratic Party so that it becomes a party of working people and young people, and not just wealthy campaign contributors: a party that has the courage to take on Wall Street, the pharmaceutical industry, the fossil fuel industry and the other powerful special interests that dominate our political and economic life”.

DeMoro lamented the party’s push to gather endorsements and support from Sanders’ backers, calling it “a very negative dialogue”.

Actor and outspoken Sanders supporter Rosario Dawson warned attendees that even her ouster – which has been talked about in Democratic circles – would be little more than cosmetic.

“He represents everything I represent”, she said. If the Sanders of yesterday were to be believed, his decision to remain formally independent from the Democrats was because he did not have confidence in the capacity of that party to accept his program of “democratic socialism”.

He encouraged his followers to consider running for political office up and down the ballot as a way to prevent Republicans from controlling state and local government.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation table was very well received throughout the event and afterwards, with hundreds of flyers distributed and many people signing up to find out more about the socialist organization and its 2016 presidential candidate, Gloria La Riva. Sanders’ campaign has been at odds with the DNC for months. “That’s what the political revolution is about and that is why the political revolution must continue into the future”, he said.
