As the Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference dominated this season, Arizona tied for third in the Pac-12 behind a Utah team that had an overall losing record and Santa Barbara finished third in a Big West ranked eighth in conference RPI. Texas Tech, at No. 5, is the only other national seed to make the final eight.

The Sunday doubleheader features the No. 5 national seed Texas Tech (47-18) vs. TCU (47-16) at 2 p.m. (CT). TCU has been in Omaha now for three straight years and much credit to manager Jim Schlossnagle for turning the Frogs into a perennial title contender. While their school isn’t supremely rich with baseball success, their heyday came in the 1990s and early 2000s when they made the tournament every year from 1995-2004. Six players were taken in the draft, including shortstop Michael Paez, who was selected with the 130th overall pick in the fourth round.

Miami, Oklahoma State, University of California at Santa Barbara and Arizona look to each win the college world series. But which one is the best? He has a team-high 124 strikeouts and just 21 walks this season.

UC Santa Barbara and Arizona were best in the West. Thing is, the perception throughout college baseball is that the level of play was down in that part of the country this year. Also chosen by the Athletics, Puk was less than impressive in his two starts in the NCAA Tournament.

Both are making their second straight appearance in the event. “I know it is going to be a warm week but that is what the College World Series is all about”.

At this year’s games, fans can expect a few of their old-favorites and some new changes. “They can have a wet towel to help cool their core down that would help tremendously”. And as we documented before about their program history, this is 20th time Oklahoma State will be partaking in the festivities, but the first time this century.
