People try the new Sony VR headset at the Sony PlayStation E3 event. The choice of games between the two may be similar in recent years, as more PC games come to consoles, but there are subtle differences between the two VR devices.
Sony is committed to have at least 50 VR games available at launch. I know numerous NR folks were hyped when we saw the teaser trailer, and for me, this is one of my most anticipated game for the upcoming year.
PlayStation 4 owners will also need to pick up a PlayStation 4 camera to use the PlayStation VR headset.
When PlayStation VR launches in October, there will be a huge demand for the product, one that Sony may not be able to meet right away.
However, neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed the exact fate of all future VR games on their platforms, since they’ve both implied that these new consoles exist in order in part to justify their investments in virtual reality. The game collection also includes a new space adventure called “Farpoint”.
The PlayStation VR will be priced at $399, a lower price than its rivals including Facebook Inc.’s (NASDAQ: FB) Oculus Rift and HTC Corp.’s Vive. However, Sony is banking on the fact that PlayStation VR is significantly cheaper. Scare yourself silly in Resident Evil 7, play Captain (Kirk) in Star Trek Bridge Crew, or float around and shoot the tanks to pieces in Battlezone.
Sony’s E3 2016 press conference was solid, but wasn’t the best of all time like past year. And hey, what’s a little bit of gaming hardware without some, you know, games?
