Lin-Manuel Miranda joins James Corden for carpool karaoke
In search of The Beacon theatre, where he will host the 70th annual Tony Awards this Sunday, the “Late Late Show” host drove his now famous SUV along Broadway with “Hamilton” star and creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Corden started by picking up NY native Lin-Manuel Miranda and rapping the opening number from the musical genius’ hit show Hamilton.
In a special carpool karaoke with host James Corden, he was joined in the vehicle last night by Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Audra Mcdonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jane Krakowski.
The roadtrip buddies sang songs from popular musicals such as Rent, Jersey Boys and Les Miserables finale song, One Day More, as they drove around Manhattan.
The likeable pair opened with a medley of “Alexander Hamilton” and “Guns and Ships” from the Hamilton soundtrack, with Corden showing off some impressive rapping skills, before picking up a trio of Broadway stars: the legendary Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jane Krakowski.
All together now: Oooonnnee Daaaaaaaaaaayyy Moooooooooooooooooooooooore! After all, James is hosting this year’s awards night, and what ensued was a show tune-filled edition of Carpool Karaoke. Miranda and the cast of “Hamilton” received a record-breaking 16 nominations.
James is hosting this year’s Tony Awards, which recognises achievement in live Broadway theatre, for the first time on Sunday, so his choice of auto companions are pretty fitting. Every song included extra dashes of Broadway flair-the group couldn’t help but blurt out a loud “awww” the moment the opening notes of “Seasons of Love” rang out, and they added all kinds of head bangs and harmonies to each number.
James Corden has created a cultural phenomenon with “Carpool Karaoke”. This year, he is not nervous due to the success of the show. “People want to have a great time”, McDonald tells him.
“It’s a long evening so just have fun”.

Which was a shame, as James had already explained to her it was going to be called “Carpool Karaoke”, which kind of implies a musical element.
