The United States will play a friendly with Brazil in September, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday. “It should be a tremendous day at Gillette Stadium”.

Brazil remain one of the biggest teams in the world, but they’re not the best anymore.

The Americans will use the friendly in Foxborough, Massachusetts as a tune-up for a playoff match against either Mexico or Jamaica to determine who will advance to the 2017 Federation Internationale de Football Association Confederations Cup in Russia.

Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m. ET through ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and at all Ticketmaster ticket centres throughout the region.

This will be the 18 meeting between the U.S. and Brazil, and the fifth since 2009 with the most recent being a 4-1 win for the Seleção on May 30, 2012, in front of more than 67,000 fans at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Brazil have been a frequent opponent for the U.S., coming to the nation each few years for a friendly in a big NFL stadium that inevitably sells out.

All-time, the U.S. National Team is 17-2-5 in 24 previous visits to Foxboro, including a 10-2-2 at Gillette Stadium, which opened in 2002.

USA will also be keen to get back on track after a shock semi-final defeat to Jamaica in this month’s Concacaf Cold Cup.
