Waiting patiently for your HTC One M9 to get Android 5.1 Lollipop?

In terms of the Android 5.1 update for the M9 from other Australian carriers, Vodafone now has the software update in testing, as does Optus, though Optus gives a mid-August eta for release.
As you probably suspect, the update will be a staged rollout and will of course not be hitting all EMEA HTC One M9s at once.
After the release of Android 5.1 Lollipop in the United States in July, the update is now rolling out for users across the globe. Things like some tweaking of the system volume, an improved contacts app, and improvements to Quick Settings are all included in this update, plus much more. Hence, speculations are rife that the Taiwanese tech giant may roll out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update very soon for the users of 2015’s flagship before the Android M is officially made available.
But we might be getting ahead of ourselves here, as HTC’s own Product and Services Director Graham Wheeler has announced on his Twitter page that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is expected to hit the EMEA region (covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa) starting today. The Android 5.1 Lollipop also comes with fixes on the memory leak that was found on earlier versions along with the battery drain issues.

Users looking to update their devices will get an update notification when it’s ready for download. Android updates are something that we should never expect as guaranteed because there are so many complicated layers involved and any one of these layers not lining up properly can end up in a device not receiving the OTA update. The size of the Android 5.1.1 update is 615 MB and will see the build number change to N910PVPU4COG5.
